coverI Dared to Call Him Father by Bilquis Sheikh.
starstarstarstarstarThe autobiography of Bilquis Sheikh, I Dared to Call Him Father, recounts the conversion of a women in Pakistan. She describes how the Holy Spirit lead her away from Islam and to Christ. Much of the story explains supernatural experiences with the Holy Spirit, and the plight of Christians living in non-Christian and non-secular regions. The account is an eye opener for Christians living in the secular world, where the greatest persecution we face is being denied public communal prayer in schools. At the same time, Sheikh is respectful and loving in her view of the dominant faith in her area. At times lyrical and touching, I Dared to Call Him Father is a bit slow in certain points. Despite its flaws, however, it is well worth reading.
