Ida Yarni Sambue (15), Theresia Morangke (15), and Alfita Poliwo (19) were beheaded on October 29, 2005. Fourteen year old Noviana Malewa survived the attack. Lois Anderson and Zelda White, missionaries of the Presbyterian Church (USA), were shot and killed on February 1, 2007.


Malaysia
On May 30, 2007, Lina Joy's appeal to have her name changed on legal documents was denied. Malaysia's highest court determined that only the Sharia court (a court of Islamic law) would determine issues related to religious identity, despite the Constitution promising personal religious freedom. Because her papers indicate she is muslim, Joy cannot marry a Christian.


Nigeria:
Oluwatoyin Oluwasesin was murdered on March 21, 2007, by Muslim extremists for "desecrating" the Quran. After beating, stoning and clubbing her to death, the assailants then burned her body, despite attempts by other Muslims to defuse the situation. Hannatu Haruna Alkali was expelled from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University for "blaspheming" the Mohammed while sharing the Gospel with other students. Militants late broke into her home. Pakistan:
On July 26, 2008, Aneela and Saba Younis
were kidnapped. They were married to adult men, and forced to convert. Aneela (aged 10) has been returned to her family, but a judge ruled that Saba, age 16, is an adult and converted of her own will. Her family says she is only 13.
